Reports to: Business Development Manager This Saskatoon based Business Development Representative will be responsible for driving and growing new business revenue in the Greater Saskatoon area, throughout Saskatchewan. This is a client-facing sales position requiring a proven sales ability, skill for closing sales and the ability to build key relationships. Develop the territory by building strong relationships and marketing ALS' services to existing and potential clients; Identify and develop target lists for potential new business clients and market sectors; Our success is dependent on the quality of our employees - that is why we only employ the best! Plan and perform sales visits and cold calls as required, to meet regional revenue goals; Provide clients with requested information on all aspects of ALS operations, both general services and specific technical information with the assistance of laboratory staff; Assist in the communication between ALS and their clients, through follow up on pricing, billing, and technical issues; Assist in the preparation of sales brochures, price lists, and any other marketing materials required to improve the effectiveness of the sales team; Participate in weekly sales meetings and provide weekly progress reports; Attend and represent ALS at tradeshows, industry seminars, and conferences; Lead, organize, and participate in client events, seminars, workshops, and presentations; Prepare quotations and proposals as required, and follow up on these quotations and proposals to track successes and failures; Assist in the preparation of larger proposals as required; Track public Requests for Proposals (RFP); Work within the sales team to maximize sales, customer service and efficiency; Participate in operational and client service meetings as required; Supply management with contact reports, weekly reports, and monthly/quarterly sales plans; Maintain knowledge of environmental criteria and guidelines, as well as laboratory capabilities and service offerings; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned by the Manager. Ability to sit for long periods of time; Ability to spend up to 30% of your time travelling; This position will require work outside of regular work hours. Ability to stand for up to a full shift; Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities The ideal candidate would have: B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in a science based discipline; Minimum 2 years of sales experience required; Strong customer services background, experience with business-to-business marketing an asset; Work experience focused on chemistry or environmental science is an asset; Valid Provincial Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving history (abstract required); Use of your own vehicle for travelling. You would also have: Excellent English communication (written, reading, verbal), with confident public speaking ability; Excellent interpersonal and sales skills, with the ability to network with key individuals; Strong computer skills; Preference for experience with Contact Management Software (eg. Salesforce); Problem solver who enjoys finding solutions; Energetic self-starter capable of working independently; Excellent organizational skills.
