Bring your in-depth analytical skills as well as your strategic fixed income investment expertise to this Fixed Income Senior Investment Officer position in Ottawa. In this exciting full-time permanent opportunity within the Investments team of Capital Markets Division where you will be providing strategic matter expertise regarding CMHC's wide range of fixed income assets such as recommending and executing investments that consistently outperform market benchmarks and indices. You will also be accountable for maximizing returns in accordance with established policies and objectives with due regard to regulatory constraints, and within the strategies and parameters approved by the Capital Market Committee, the Pension Fund Trustees, the Investment Committees, and other governing bodies. How You Will Be Contributing Executing investment transactions that commit the corporation to purchases and sales with approved dealers/brokers. Ensuring that all transactions flow smoothly from the front office to the middle and back offices, including the proper generation of tickets and settlement. Resolving settlement problems that may arise. Maintaining a global expertise of the possible strategies related to CMHC's Fixed Income portfolios (i.e. Pension Fund, Insurance and Securitization). Performing complex financial analysis of investment grade rated companies. Monitoring existing portfolio holdings to ensure their continuing validity and compliance with all applicable standards, policies and regulations. Acting as a contact with investment professionals and proactively develops a close working relationship with external contacts. Building and managing effective working relationships with internal and external clients. What We Are Looking For A commitment to demonstrating CMHC values. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or in a related discipline and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience with increasing responsibilities in fixed income investing, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of investment principles, portfolio management theory, credit research, fixed income, money market and/or derivative instruments. Demonstrated experience in modeling, investing and risk management strategies. Demonstrated experience in corporate credit analysis. Demonstrated experience in using MS Office, spreadsheets, databases, Bloomberg and Financial Analysis Systems. Comprehensive understanding of the CMHC's investment mandates and the regulatory environment of the Insurance, Securitization and Pension Fund Portfolios. Strong understanding of the economic environment and its impacts on investments. Extensive knowledge of conceptual and transactional elements of fixed income investing. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to interpret economic trends and market relationships. Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with internal and external clients. Assets: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and/or a Master's Degree in a related field. Bilingualism (English and French).
